Welcome to the Saltshaker Book Club!

Hello, fellow lovers of books! We have started this simple book club to satiate our desires to read and discuss great books among fellow Christians, those who join us in serving our great Lord Jesus! Our desire is that the time we spend in our books and with each other would spur us on to love Jesus and others more.
We will not only be reading Christian authored literature, but also classics and other respectable selections. Our current plan is to read a secular novel one month followed by a Christian authored book the following month and so the pattern repeats. Not all selections will be novels, though. As we select books in advance, we can each purchase or as a group purchase the books. We may even just buy a few copies and pass them around!

So, our first source of entertainment is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin. We have planned to meet the last week in September to discuss the book, so you'd better get busy! We're still trying to decide the best time/day to meet. Please comment on this post and let us know when you can or cannot meet and if you'd like to get together and watch a movie version of our book.

Woo-hoo, wonderful job w/ the blog Lori! Its gorgeous! Any of those days work for me, and I'm so into watching the movie! I technically have the new Hollywood one and the PBS one, even though, a friend of mine has borrowed the PBS one. If that is the one everyone wants to watch though, I can track her down. We would have to pick & chose pieces of it (the PBS oen) to watch though, as it is close to 5 hours long, but oh so good! Can't wait to talk about Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet!!!!

I can do any of those, too. I still think one of you busier ladies should choose the day. I would volunteer my house, but I don't think it would work as well as one of yours. If it's an evening, maybe we could send all the husbands and kids to one house while we go to another.

I have to say that my attempt to accept the invitation to join as co-hoster didn't seem to work. I may have to get one of you to help me out.

Great job, Lori!

Ladies, I just spoke with Terresa and we came up with a game plan for our first meeting. Let's push our first book club meeting to October 6th. Maybe we could consider meeting the first Monday evening of each month and let that be our standing club night? As for starting time, would 7pm be too late? Would that allow enough time for talk and a movie? I was thinking 7pm so that we could all feed kids then hit the road. But, if you want to skip helping our hubbies and meet earlier, that could work, too.
So, does Oct 6th at 7pm work for everyone?
